Danni Cui Wins the First Prize in “FLTRP·ETIC Cup” National English Challenge for University Students

On December 10, 2021 “FLTRP·ETIC Cup” National English Challenge for University Students (Uchallenge) came to an end, and Danni Cui, a 2020 undergraduate student of Library Science in our school, won the first prize in the National English Public Speaking Contest.

The finals of the National English Public Speaking Contest was divided into four sessions, and Danni Cui has successfully advanced to the top 24 in China through three passes.In the assigned topic speech Red Star over China of the first session, Danni Cui took the environmental changes in her hometown as the starting point, and showed the spirit of Red Star with the story of inheritance and persistence of three generations people of sand control in Kubuqi Desert. In the off the cuff speechwith the theme of Plane ticket blind box of the second session,she quoted the classic lines “Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get.” from the movie Forrest Gump, as the opening, skillfully linked the plane ticket blind box with life choices, and put forward the view that "blind boxes are not blind", and young people should spend rationally and cherish time. In the third session, the title required "add a fifth word to the Olympic motto". She chose "Forever" as the fifth motto after “Faster, Higher, Stronger and Together”. The word “Forever” explained athletes' eternal pursuit of the limit, and she explained the eternal and pure pursuit of sports by people all over the world with the performance of athletes who are not afraid of challenges in the face of the epidemic in Tokyo Olympic Games.

As the only English contest selected into the national academic contests rankings of colleges and universities, the “FLTRP·ETIC Cup” National English Challenge for University Students is one of the largest and most well-known English contests in China, and it has gathered students from colleges and universities across the country to participate. There were 834 colleges and universities and more than 130,000 contestants in the 2021“FLTRP·ETIC Cup” National English Challenge for University Students.
