Professor Ping Wu’s Research Group Carried out Investigation and Academic Exchanges in Zhengzhou

From September 21 to 22, Ping Wu, Professor at the Department of Publishing Science of our School, led the members of the research group of Collection, Collation and Research of Chinese Ancient Agricultural Books, a major project of the National Social Science Fund of China, to Zhengzhou to carry out investigation and academic exchanges.

On the afternoon of September 21, Professor Ping Wu’s research group held the progress report and quarterly work report meeting of the 5th sub-project of Collection, Collation and Research of Chinese Ancient Agricultural Books at the School of Communication, Zhengzhou Normal University.

Members of the 5th sub-project including Pengyan Mo, Chengli Hu, Shanshan Lu, Zhilin Shi, Xinye Li, Shun Hou, and Yonghui Zhang reported their research progress.

Ren Xia, Zhiyi Fan, Mo Wang, and Ziyang Weng reported the phased achievements and research progress of the 1st sub-project, 2nd sub-project, 3rd sub-project, and 4th sub-project respectively.

Ziyang Weng launched the initiative of Sharing Plan of the Data and Knowledge of Chinese Ancient Agricultural Books to promote online collaboration and data sharing in the field of ancient agricultural books.

Kun Qin, head of the 4th sub-project, gave an academic sharing on the topic Research Progress of Spatial Humanities and Social Geography Computation. He believed that GIS has a wide range of applications, and the cross-integration of ancient agricultural books research and GIS discipline will make major innovations.

In the conclusion of the meeting, Ping Wu fully affirmed the progress made in the phased research of each sub-project, and pointed out that under the guidance of interdisciplinary integration and modern information technology, the research space of Chinese ancient agricultural books is vast and rich, and the multi-dimensional, multi-level and interdisciplinary research of ancient agricultural books is promising.

The next morning, Professor Ping Wu’s research group went to Elephant Press for investigation, and communicated on the digitalization of ancient agricultural books and the publication of research results.

Guizhi Zhang, Editor-in-Chief of Elephant Press, introduced the achievements and experiences of Elephant Press in the fields of theme publishing, educational publishing, professional publishing, general publishing and integrated publishing.

Guangjie Li, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Elephant Press, introduced the integrated publishing project of Literature China.

Ziyang Weng made a report on acquiring the spatio-temporal data in ancient books and documents and the research on the visualization on map of ancient agricultural book knowledge.

Linzhong Wang, President of Elephant Press, presided over the meeting.

On the basis of sharing the research results, this investigation and academic exchanges once again clarified the value of the research, innovated the research methods, opened up the transformation path of the research results, and clarified the development direction of industry-education-research-application, which laid a solid foundation for the research group to make high-quality results and promote the transformation of results.
